GENEVA, Switzerland — North Reading native Jimmy Vesey signed a two-year contract with Geneve-Servette HC in Switzerland on Monday.
An unrestricted free agent, Vesey, 32, finished last season with the Colorado Avalanche after he was traded from the New York Rangers on March 1.
Vesey had 5 goals and 8 points in 43 games split between the Rangers and Avalanche last season.
The 6-foot-2 winger is coming off a two-year, $1.6 million deal signed with the Rangers in January of 2023.
Drafted 66th overall by the Nashville Predators in 2012 after graduating from North Reading High School, Vesey went onto a decorated career at Harvard where he won the Hobey-Baker Award as the best NCAA player in 2016.
Vesey has racked up 101 goals and 194 points in 626 career games over the last nine seasons split between the Rangers, Avalanche, Sabres, Maple Leafs, Canucks and Devils.
Geneve-Servette, based in Geneva, Switzerland, competes in the National League, the top tier of the Swiss hockey league system.
“I am excited to be coming to Geneva and start a new chapter in my career,” Vesey told the club recently. “I have heard nothing but praise, not only about Switzerland, but also about the city and the organization. It is great to be a part of such a strong team and I am excited to see all that we can achieve this season and beyond. Our goal is to return to the top of the league, and I can’t wait to get started.”
The team has multiple former NHL players on the current roster including Jesse Puljujarvi, Markus Granlund, Marc-Antoine Pouliot, Taylor Beck, Josh Jooris and Tim Berni.
