Lorraine Hanson, 92

Dedicated volunteer and member of Eastern Bank’s Presidents Club

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, VT — Lorraine M. Hanson, 92 of White River Junction, Vermont, formerly a long-time resident of Melrose, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at home. In her final days Lorraine was surrounded by her children, grandchildren great grandchildren and close friends.

Born on December 10, 1932, Lorraine was raised in her beloved city of Lynn, Massachusetts, daughter of Kathleen and Harry Bartlett. She graduated from Lynn English High, Class of 1950.

Lorraine is survived by her four children, Debra L. Moran of Altamonte Springs, Florida, Steven M. Wescott and his Wife Lisa of Plympton Massachusetts, Robin Beane of White River Junction, Vermont and Lisa M. Phillips of Melrose, Massachusetts. She also leaves behind two sisters Wanda Cummings of Beverly, Massachusetts and Roberta Ritchings of New Hampshire, additionally her cherished 35 grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her family was the cornerstone of her life; everyone knew family came first to Lorraine. She took such delight and pride in talking about the time she spent with each one of her family members and similarly they treasured the time they spent with her.

Lorraine was very passionate about her role in banking. She embarked on her career in the 1970’s and retired from Eastern Bank in Melrose in 2012 when she was 80 years young. She was dedicated and loved her coworkers and customers and was rewarded with several awards and distinctions, as well as being a member of the Presidents Club at Eastern Bank.

Everyone who knew Lorraine understood how much she loved to volunteer. She was a volunteer at Salem and Melrose-Wakefield Hospitals, worked at the Melrose election polls, and went to the elementary schools to help with vision & hearing tests as well as a few lessons in banking. Additionally, she was a Eucharistic Minister at St Mary’s Church.

Visiting hours will be held Friday August 15, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday August 16, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St Mary’s Annunciation Church, 16 Myrtle St., Melrose. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, 250 High St., Waltham, Massachusetts.

Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend.
