NORTH READING — Sunshine and a cool morning greeted the nearly 120 golfers who participated in the St. Theresa Parish Golf Tournament on Friday, August 8.
After many years of rainy tournaments, the beautiful weather was uplifting and contributed to the positive vibe felt at the Hillview Golf Course for the 6th annual event. Everyone was ready for a fun and competitive day of golf in support of the parish. The tournament raised over $42,000 which will go toward a fund for the replacement of the parish’s parking lot.

Father Brian Flynn, the new pastor at St. Theresa Parish and a fellow golfer, started the morning with a prayer and thanking everyone for coming. After the blessing, golfers went to their assigned holes for the 8 a.m. shotgun start.
Taking first place in the Open Division with nine under par was the team of Helen Hagman, Bill King, Nancy King and Dave Spillane.

Second place honors went to Ed D’Entremont, Brian Lee, Aiden Thomas and Pat Lee. Third place honors went to Hank Burke, Ed Burke, Dave Burke and Joe Burke.
In the Women’s Division, the team from Farrelly Realty Group took top honors. Shooting two under par were, Geri Farrelly, Nancy Greeley, Erika Heminway and Kara Ross.
In the Senior Division, also shooting two under, were returning champs from 2024: Francis Hachey, Jim Tryder, Paul Dorsey and John Carroll.

After the tournament, golfers gathered at the parish hall for a delicious luncheon buffet, courtesy of the Horseshoe Grille. Everyone found out who took home the prizes and bragging rights for another year. In addition to learning who the winning teams were, the following prizes were awarded: women’s longest drive, Peg Guinta; men’s longest drive, Anderson Trickett; women’s closest to the line, Kara Ross; men’s closest to the line, Jim Maccario; women’s closest to the pin, Erika Hemingway; and men’s closest to the pin, Aiden Thomas.
Father Brian thanked Pat Lee, event chair, and the golf committee of Bill Barringer, John Sannella, Terry Hahn, Carol Hudson, Chuck Carucci, Hank Burke, Julie O’Donnell, Lena McCauley, John Pasquale, Louis Giangrande, and Michele Barrette. For many, it was their sixth year helping to organize the tournament. The parish is grateful for their consistent dedication and tireless efforts to make the tournament a huge success.

In addition, there were many people who helped in so many ways behind the scenes and on the day of the event. A grateful thank you is offered to the following: Eric Evans, Joyce DiGiantommaso, Betty Erickson, Josephine Doherty, Lenora Rego, Sheila Berry and Carol Stack. Also, thank you to Chris Carter, Gary Lynch, Matt Price, and the staff of the Hillview Golf Course, all of whom helped the event run smoothly.
Lastly, St. Theresa Parish would like to give a big thank you to the Connor Family Foundation, Cota Funeral Home, Golf Facilities Management, Inc., and the Michele and Howard Kessler Family Foundation for being major sponsors of the event. “We are grateful to them and all our sponsors and donors,” commented Event Chair Pat Lee. “See our ad in today’s issue of the North Reading Transcript for a listing of all the businesses that supported the 2025 Golf Tournament. Please consider supporting these businesses who support us! These are the people who give back to the community and we hope you will do the same for them. Without the sponsors, the tournament would not have been the success it was.”
