Multiple returning All-Stars ready to lead Lynnfield sports this fall

LYNNFIELD — The fall sports season is underway with preseason practices and scrimmages continuing this week.

The first regular season action of the fall started on Tuesday with the golf team traveling to Essex Tech.

The majority of the remaining fall teams will start their regular seasons next week.

Full previews of each team will appear with recaps of early games over the next two weeks.

Multiple All-Stars are returning in various sports to lead the way for the Pioneers in 2025.

 

AUDREY MANNING

 

The volleyball team returns junior All-Star Audrey Manning. She was one of just two sophomores named to the First Team last year. The rest of the 10 members were seniors. Manning led Lynnfield in assists with 264, was 2nd in blocks with 24, 2nd in aces with 65, 3rd in kills with 82 and 3rd in digs with 166. The volleyball team starts their regular season on Sept. 2 at home against Ipswich.

Senior Rocco Scenna returns as an All-Star for the Div. 4 State Finalist boys’ soccer team. Scenna made the All-Conference team last year with a team-high 14 goals to go with 11 assists. The two-time captain and All-Star is committed to the Bowdoin

 

ROCCO SCENNA

 

College soccer team. The boys’ soccer team starts the regular season on Sept. 2 in Newburyport.

The girls’ soccer team will be led by returning All-Star, senior midfielder Bella Sykes who had 6 goals and 11 assists last year. The Pioneers also open up on Sept. 2 with a home game against Newburyport.

BELLA SYKES

The Lynnfield field hockey team returns two All-Stars from last year: senior center back Lily Alves and junior midfielder Lauren Mattia. Mattia had 2 goals and 8 assists last year while Alves added 8 assists and multiple defensive saves. The Pioneers will start the season on Sept. 3 at home against Newburyport.

Four fall teams — golf, football, boys’ and girls’ cross country —  won’t return any All-Stars but have plenty of promising players ready to step up.

LAUREN MATTIA

 

The football team is starting their season on Sept. 12 at Shawsheen Tech.

The girls’ and boys’ cross country teams will start their regular season on Sept. 10 at home against Manchester-Essex.
