NORTH READING — North Reading High School was recently listed at No. 11 in a USA Today article ranking the top Massachusetts high schools for student athletes.

According to a study conducted by Niche, which accounts for survey feedback from students and parents — accounting for reviews of athletics, number of state championship, student participation in athletics and number of sports offered at the school — and data from the U.S. Department of Education, a top 25 list in the state was determined.

At No. 11, North Reading High was the 4th-highest public school on the list behind only Duxbury, Nashoba Regional and Lincoln-Sudbury.

“This ranking is a direct reflection of the time, energy and passion you put into building strong programs and creating meaningful, positive experiences for our student-athletes,” said first-year athletic director Chuck Campobasso in a letter to NRHS coaches. “To be mentioned among some of the prominent athletic programs in the state — and the only Cape Ann League Team — is no accident. It speaks to the daily commitment of our athletes and the care you take in shaping your programs into places where students want to be a part of.

“To receive this recognition, alongside winning the Hyland Trophy this past school year, is a powerful testament to all that you’ve accomplished. Congratulations, and thank you for everything you do to make North Reading Athletics the success, on and off the field.”
