Enjoyed pickle ball, golf, cooking and baking

WAKEFIELD — MaryAnn Harrington, age 76, passed away on September 6 surrounded by loving family in her Wakefield home. 

Born in Philadelphia on May 13, 1949, she was the daughter of the late John and Marie E. (DiOrio) Carabello. After her family moved to MA, MaryAnn met her future husband while they both attended Lynnfield High Schoo, from which she graduated in 1967.

MaryAnn and Richard married in 1969 and started a family, settling in Wakefield in 1978. She and her husband enjoyed cruise ships, van camping and Disney vacations. She had many hobbies and interests including pickleball and golf at their retirement home in The Villages, FL. She loved cooking, baking and spending holidays with family, most especially Christmas. Above all, MaryAnn cherished her role as “Mimi” to her nine grandchildren. 

She was the beloved wife of Richard D. Harrington. She was the loving mother of Richard Harrington II and his wife Sara of North Reading; Brian Harrington and his wife Jennifer of Exeter, NH; Gregory Harrington and his wife Maria of Pelham, NH; and Meegan Bibel and her husband Malachi of Salem, NH. She was the adoring grandmother of Tripp, Grace, Ryan, Hailey, Jack, Benjamin, Alexandra, Rowan and Wyatt. She was the sister of Francis Carabello of Danvers, Jim Carabello of SC, Jane Richter of FL, Michael Carabello of FL and the late John Carabello. 

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Friday at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Jimmy Fund.
