Loved the Boston Red Sox, old movies and traveling
MELROSE — David M. Gauvreau of Melrose passed away peacefully at home on August 22, one day after celebrating his 87th birthday.
Born on August 21, 1938 in Somerville, David lived a full and meaningful life. He wore many hats over the years: treasurer and owner of Eastern Air and Refrigeration, moderator at the First Congregational Church in Melrose, general manager of Congregational Retirement Homes and later as the proud owner of Days Gone By Antiques in Essex.
David will be remembered for his deep love of the Boston Red Sox, his passion for old movies, country music and travel and the gift of finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. His kindness, humor and quiet but steady presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Above all, David cherished his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years Lois; his three daughters Kimberlee and her husband Neil; Karen and her partner Glenn; and Tami and her partner Edward; his grandchildren Eliza, Annaliese and Noah; and grand dog Jasper, all of whom brought him endless joy.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather in honor of David’s life for his memorial service at the First Congregational Church, 121 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday, September 25 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the First Congregational Church, 121 W. Foster St., Melrose, MA 02176 or to Boston Children’s Hospital, tribute gift at giving.childrenshospital.org/donate/honor-memorial-giving. For online tribute, visit RobinsonFuneralHome.com.
