MELROSE — According to information on the city Elections’ website, no one as of Wednesday afternoon has shown a desire to run for elected office since July 9.
When candidates take out nomination papers for City Council or School Committee, Elections Office staff updates the candidates’ list, the website states. Jason Chen of Woodland Avenue, a candidate for Councilor at Large, was the last to have taken out nomination papers in search of office in the November 4 election.
In addition to choosing city councilors and School Committee members, voters will be faced with critical questions asking whether they want to override Proposition 2 1/2 to raise more property tax money to run the city.
So far this election season, incumbent Councilors at Large Ward Hamilton, Ryan Williams and Maya Jamaleddine have taken out nomination papers for reelection. Chen joins them in the contest for four elected positions.
