ZBA OK’s signage for 198 Albion St.

By MARK SARDELLA

WAKEFIELD —— The new mixed-use building at 198 Albion St. (the former location of Lake Street Laundry) will be getting new signage after the Zoning Board of Appeals approved the signage proposal at its meeting last week.

Attorney Brian McGrail reminded members that the board had retained jurisdiction over signage when it approved the redevelopment of the site.

McGrail displayed an image showing the design and location of the two proposed signs.

On the left side of the building facing Albion Street will be a sign for “Blessed Barbershop,” which is already doing business on the first floor.

On the right side of the building is a sign for “Albion Flats,” the name of the residential apartments in the upper portion of the building.

ZBA members liked the proposed signs, but questioned why the letter fonts were not the same on both signs. The board approved the signage and assigned member Joe Pride to work out the minor detail of the fonts with the property owner.
