WAKEFIELD — Last week, the Wakefield Rotary Club participated in the Ice Bucket Challenge to fundraise in support of the Angel Fund. The Angel Fund aims at supporting research of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) also known as Lou Gherig’s Disease. Fifteen participants represented Holiday Travel, WCAT, HD Physical Therapy, The Savings Bank and First Financial Trust. Ten of the participants are also Wakefield Rotarians.

“We had a great turn-out of both participants and supporters,” commented Wakefield Rotary Club President Kathy Boyle. “We were fortunate to be able to support this great cause that has become a well-known campaign with roots right here in Massachusetts.”

In total, through pledges and day-of donations, the group collected $2,336. The Wakefield Rotary Club contributed an additional $1,000 bringing the total to $3,336 collected for the Angel Fund.

The club wishes to thank participants Carla Dale, Suzanne Bowering, Cameron Harding, Madison Harding, Ed Harding, Matthew Harding, Jim Fitzgerald, Paul Adams, Tom Stapleton, Debbie Young, Kathy Boyle, Bina Siddiqui, Bertha Ruiz, Julie MacArthur and Barbara Worley and the staff at Lakeside Inn for their commitment to the event.
