MELROSE—It was another successful series of competition at the 14th Annual Melrose Tennis Open, held over two weekends in September at Lyons Tennis Court in Melrose. The Melrose Recreation Department hosted full weekends of men’s, women’s, and junior doubles teams play.
After some great competition, and seasonable weather, the results were the following:
Singles Weekend – September 6 and 7
Men’s Singles: Lorenzo Russo defeated Daniel Muller by a score of 6-1, 6-0.
Women’s Singles: Karolina Risilia defeated Karen Burtnett by a score of 6-1, 6-2.
Doubles Weekend – September 13 and 14
Men’s A Doubles: Matti Teittinen and Daniel Teittinen defeated Dan Rice and Warren Avery by a score of 7-5, 6-4.
Men’s B Doubles: Eric Allshouse and Chen Chen defeated Chad Heipler and Tin Tran by a score of 6-0, 6-4.
Women’s Doubles: Emily Shuman and Allison Vizgaitis defeated Lucia Andrade and Quyn Tran by a score of 6-0, 6-0.
