WEST NEWBURY — The Lynnfield High girls’ soccer team traveled to West Newbury on Monday to take on Pentucket. They ended up coming home with a 2-0 win to improve to 5-2 overall and in the Cape Ann League.
Both Pioneer goals took place in the opening 40 minutes.

The other tally came on a set play as Bella Clancy found the back of the Panther net assisted by Kaylee Barrett and Antidormi in the 34th minute.
“Kaylee had a nice through-pass,” said Pioneers head coach Mark Vermont about the set up for the goal.
Pioneer goalie, Victoria Minor, improved to 5-2 making three stops.
“We had a little lull after scoring that first goal,” said Vermont. “We then picked it up late in the first half and controlled play in the second half.”
Lynnfield hit the post two times in the second stanza as they controlled the territorial play.
On Sept. 18, the Pioneers blanked rival North Reading, 5-0, on the road.
“That was our biggest win of the season,” stated Vermont, as the Hornets entered that game undefeated.
Damiani, a junior, was the star of this game scoring a career-high four goals.
“We were able to get balls over the top and Ava has great speed,” explained Vermont.
Damiani scored her first goal 5:14 in assisted by Barrett. Her second tally came at 21:10 with Ella Pascucci and Sofia Giarda.
In the second half, Damiani made it 3-0 just 1:38 in with Bella Sykes assisting. Her fourth goal came 13:27 in with Antidormi assisting.
The final goal was scored by Antidormi 36 seconds later as Ava Ragusa assisted.

In the 17th minute, Brynn Fall put home Ainsley MacDougall’s deflection for the game’s first goal. Then, off a turnover, Alex Capuano made it 2-0 in the 72nd minute.
Clancy made it 2-1 with just over three minutes remaining with Hannah Doherty assisting.
“We had more control during the second half,” said Vermont.
Minor made four saves in this game.
On Sept. 25, the Pioneers host Ipswich at 4 p.m. They then visit Newburyport on Sept. 30 with that game also starting at 4 p.m.
