World class robots compete in Melrose

FIRST HIGH SCHOOL Robotics Competition in Melrose on September 20. It was a great day of STEM competition and a great community event.

MELROSE — Melrose High School’s robotics team Red Hawk Robotics and Revere High School’s robotics team NUTRONs hosted the first robotics competition event The Nor’Easter at Melrose High School on Saturday, September 20. Elite robots from all over New England came together to compete at this world class event, the day was packed with intense battles, fist-clenching matches and most importantly collaboration and team-work.

The event not only showcased competitive spirit across the high school robotics teams, but allowed our community to come together and prove we have an amazing, engaged local Melrose businesses.

We want to express our thanks to our sponsors: Gray’s Appliance, LeadingEdge Real Estate, Reading Cooperative Bank, NUTRONs, an Anonymous Benefactor, Red Hawk Robotics and RHR parents for sponsoring this amazing event and helping us fuel craving for FIRST robotics competitions in Greater Boston.

Special thank you to our generous food sponsors: Mexico Lindo, Bangkok Bar Shi, La Qchara, Bohemian Coffeehouse & Bakery, Sweet Spot Bakery, Comella’s, Sante Fe, Big Fin Poke, Caffe Nero, Rising Eagle. You had made sure all our volunteers were well taken care of and students and mentors had lunch on time.

Last but not least, we want to give shoutout to all the dedicated teams competing at this event, the supportive audience for coming and the most wonderful volunteers as it wouldn’t have been possible to run this event without you all.

This year’s Nor’Easter has been an incredible success, we hope to see you next year at the 2026 Nor’Easter here at Melrose.
