GEORGETOWN — The LHS volleyball team had two key, CAL matches against North Reading and Georgetown recently. 

The Pioneers came up just short, 3-2, against the undefeated Hornets on the road Sept. 26. They bounced back with a 3-0 win in Georgetown on Monday night.

After a grueling, five-set thriller against North Reading, Lynnfield got back in the win column against the Royals, improving to 9-2 overall. 

The Pioneers cruised in all three sets winning 25-16, 25-7 and 25-12. 

Alexia Vaquerano led the attack with 10 kills. She added 2 aces and 8 serve receptions as well. 

Audrey Manning finished with 8 kills, 4 digs and 11 assists. 

Milana Labkovich chipped in 5 kills. 

Lynnfield had 30 serving aces in this one, led by Sophie Shaievitz who had 8. Olivia Kelter had 6 aces and Thayer Sutherland added 5. 

The Pioneers were ranked No. 7 in the latest Div. 3 power rankings. North Reading is ranked No. 6 in those same rankings. The two teams will have a rematch on Oct. 20, 5 p.m. at LHS.
