THIS WEEK’S Melrose High Athlete of the Week has been a top player for the MHS girls’ soccer team for several years, and this season is no different. Senior captain midfielder Sophie McElligott has been a key part to the success of the MHS girls’ soccer team, who are hoping to clinch a league title in the coming week. The former EMass All Star player came up big against Arlington and Wakefield with 2 assists and a goal against the Warriors and an assist during Melrose’s 1-1 tie against the Arlington Spy Ponders. Her work has helped Melrose emerge as a league favorite on the cusp of playoff qualification. Congrats to Sophie and the entire Melrose squad for a winning week!
