BOXFORD — Leo Romanski and Conrad Gerber were the two North Reading High golf representatives at the Division 3 North Sectionals on Oct. 15 at Far Corner in Boxford.

The senior co-captains both had good days on the par-72 layout (Fox and Heron courses). Gerber was tied for 10th overall shooting a 81 while Romanski was tied for 16th with an 83.

There were 78 total players.

Only the top eight advanced to the Div. 3 state final which will take place on Oct. 27 at Blissful Meadows in Uxbridge. Gerber missed qualifying by one stroke.

“I felt bad for Conrad,” said Hornets head coach Jon Kiniry. “He had one blow up hole that took place because of the heavy wind.”

While it was sunny out, the temperature was cool (upper 50’s) and very windy.

“I thought both players did a great job overall considering the conditions,” said Kiniry. “I also thought that the people at Far Corner were great hosts.”

Eleven teams competed in the event with the top three, Wilmington, Tewksbury and Cape Ann League school, Manchester-Essex, advancing.

Lynnfield (5th place), Ipswich (7th), Triton (9th) and Rockport  (10th) were the other four CAL teams in the event as the league was well-represented.
