Darlene Culwell, 61

Loved the beach, music and family

WAKEFIELD — Darlene Emily Culwell, 61, of Wakefield, formerly Tewksbury died peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on October 16.

Born in Lynn, February 23, 1964, she was the daughter of Carol (Boivin) Dufour and the late David Dufour. She was raised in Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield High School Class of 1982.

Darlene spent her working years helping people in various jobs, though if asked she would tell you raising her children was the best occupation. Known for her spontaneous streak, many lovely days were spent at the beach, listening to live music or in front of a fire with a nip of Grand Marnier. A house with a full table of friends and family was always her favorite place to be. She adored spending time outside; in gardens, by the lake or walks in the woods no matter what kind of weather. Darlene’s brilliant smile was often the first thing people noticed followed by her warm nature. Her mantra of “everyone is doing their best” meant that kindness was extended to all, strangers and friends alike.

She is survived by her three children: Ethan, Hannah and Mariah along with their partners Holly, Anthony and Steve. She is also survived by her mother Carol Dufour (Boivin) and her two older brothers Dan Dufour (Detroit) and Dave Dufour (Marblehead) along with the father of her children Stephen (Marlborough).

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday, October 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be private. For guestbook, visit mcdonaldfs.com.
