Kevin Latham, 58

Family was everything

WAKEFIELD — Kevin Latham, age 58 of Wakefield, passed away on Monday, October 27 at his home. He was born on October 3, 1967 in Brazil, IN and was the son of Dolores (Strauser) Latham and the late Joseph Latham.

Kevin was everything you could ask for in a man. A devoted son, brother, friend, husband, father, uncle and a loving “Pops” to his little buddy Caiden. He worked tirelessly to provide for his wife and children, always putting family first in everything he did.

Kevin spent his childhood in Largo, FL before moving with his wife Kerry through several places including Laconia, NH; Columbus, OH; and Maryland. In 1987, they welcomed their beautiful daughter Kristina and the following year settled permanently in MA. Two years later in 1990 their family was complete with the birth of their son Joshua.

Throughout his life, Kevin was no stranger to hard work. From his early days as a dishwasher, busboy, insulation installer and underground cable digger alongside his brother Jeff, Kevin did whatever it took to support his family. Upon moving to MA, he found his calling as a stone mason and eventually started his own successful business Latham Construction.

After living in Melrose, Saugus and Stoneham, Kevin and Kerry found their forever home in Wakefield. The place where they built a lifetime of memories and lasting friendships that became family. Wakefield was where Kevin’s craftsmanship and dedication truly showed. He not only built an addition to their home but he rebuilt the entire original house, creating a warm and welcoming home from the ground up.

Kevin lived for his wife and kids. His greatest goal was to give them everything he never had growing up and that’s exactly what he did. His legacy lives on in the home he built, the family he loved and the countless lives he touched along the way.

He was the beloved husband of Kerry (Poling) Latham. He was the loving father of Joshua Adam Latham of Tewksbury and the late Kristina Corina Latham. He was Pops to Caiden Latham. Kevin was the brother of Pam Wayne and her husband David of FL; Jeff Latham of FL; Jay Latham of FL; Kimberly Lyons and her husband Bill of Wakefield; and Christopher Flynn and his wife Thea of IN. He was the blood brother turned stepbrother of Scott Duncan of NY and Jono Duncan of FL. He is also survived by his best friends and “brothers” Jack Schmal and his wife Karen of Wakefield and Billy Barker and his wife Denise of Medford; and several loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Sunday, November 2 from 1 to 4 p.m. His funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 3 at 11 a.m. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield. Visit mcdonaldfs.com.
