MELROSE — Wakefield’s Constance Festo Lafond is presenting an art sale and exhibition with three local artists: Elaina Bates-Egan and Sophie Glikson-Cahen of Medford and Jeff Fioravanti of Lynn.
The Beebe estate opening reception is Friday, November 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. at 235 West Foster St. in Melrose. Admission is free, parking is available and light refreshments will be served.
Elaina Bates-Egan’s abstract paintings represent an ongoing dialogue between internal thoughts and emotions with the external forces that shape the world around us. Her work explores space through use of bold colors, decisive lines and dynamic movement in contrast to softer hues and diffused edges.
Sophie Glikson Cahen’s artwork expresses beautiful inner landscapes of spiritual exploration. Her rich colors and organic compositions inspire contemplation, gently inviting the viewer to share in her journey and joy for life. Her work also welcomes interpretation in multiple layers of imagery often evoking themes of emotion, relationships and strength.
Jeff Fioravanti when he is creating art attempts to not just render the scene but to bring an emotion, a feeling that touches the viewer and brings to them the same experience that compelled him to create the piece. His hope is to leave the viewer with their own attachment to that place or a place very much like it from within their own heart and memory. He is an Artist Member in the Copley Society of Art and recipient of many awards of excellence in pastel.
Constance Festo Lafond’s previously undiagnosed condition of amblyopia called lazy eye gave her early work a flattened perspective. When her eyesight was corrected, she began to use it as an alternative way of expression. Varying between impressionism and abstraction, her bright and joyful colors describe objects and space with equal weight. She offers a collection of colorful women’s fashions with her artwork manufactured in Montreal.
