Boys’ cross country starts postseason with strong performances at league meet

WOBURN — The Middlesex League 12 Championship Cross Country meet was held on Monday at the Woburn Country Club with all Freedom and Liberty teams competing.  

Despite not placing particularly high as a team, the Wakefield boys’ cross country team had many strong performances with much-improved times compared to last year.  

Devin DeBerardinis placed 19th in a time of 16:09. Max Viselli placed 39th with a time of 16:52.

Sophomore Noah Morrisseau placed 52nd with a time of 17:27. Zach Richardson placed 54th in 17:32. Sean Marra placed 55th in a time of 17:41. Evan Buonopane-Cohen placed 60th with a time of 18:02. Brendan Pritchard placed 62nd with a time of 18:07.    

In the junior varsity race, Taylor Miller led the Warriors with a time of 18:10 placing 34th. Max Levine ran a time of 18:12 placing 35th. Nick Hurley ran 18:21 placing 40th. Aidan Burd ran 18:22 placing 42nd. Ryan Paige ran 18:26 to place 46th. Connor Moulton ran 18:42 placing 55th. Jack Ellis ran 19:05 placing 68th. The Warrior JV placed 6th as a team.  

In the Freshman 3K race, Connor Courtney placed 28th in a time of 11:16.  Matthew Houghton placed 32nd in 11:33. EJ Savage placed 42nd in a time of 11:42. Jake Paige placed 45th in 11:51. Dario Mauro placed 54th in a time of 12:17 to complete the scoring. The Warrior freshmen placed 5th as a team.       

Next up, the Warriors head to Wrentham this weekend to compete in the Frank Mooney Coaches Invitational as one final tuneup before States on Nov. 8.
