WAKEFIELD — Wakefield Youth Softball’s 12U team earned a decisive, 18-8 win over Medford in the semifinals recently, highlighting a strong playoff run.

Wakefield jumped out to an early 7-1 lead after two innings, anchored by strong pitching from Emma Corey and the team’s offense capitalizing on key hits and aggressive base running up and down the lineup.

Medford clawed most of the lead back, making it 7-6 at one point, but Wakefield’s offensive juggernaut could not be stopped, piling on 11 more runs in what would be an 18-8 win over 5 innings.

The entire team contributed to the offense, with key hits coming from Leah Skorupski, Makenzie Raymond, Lilah DeMartino, Camille Sheridan and Mina Bacon (who hit a bases clearing home run in the 5th).

WYS is proud of the players’ hard work and the dedication of their coaches, Ryan Cooper, Cecily McChalicher and Keith Sheridan.
