An avid reader, especially history

NORTH READING — Emilia Victoria (Gaieski) McInerney, fondly known as “Millie,” moved on to be with the Lord peacefully at her winter home in Stuart, Florida, on Sunday March 11, 2018. She was born October 17, 1924 in Peabody, to the late Peter Gaieski and Josephine (Masalska) Gaieski. She was a graduate of Lasell college in Newton. She was married to the late Edward A. McInerney of Lynn, eventually settling in North Reading for the past 56 years, where they raised eight children.

A true New Englander, she enjoyed the change of seasons spending her summers in Essex on Lake Chebbaco. She loved boat rides out to Cranes beach, cross country skiing, with autumn being her favorite season. An avid reader, she enjoyed history books, especially about Poland, being proud of her 100% Polish heritage.

She had a love for animals, supporting many animal charities, as well as St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

She is survived by her daughters Alexandra (Sandy) of Haverhill, Christine of Jensen Beach, Florida; sons Anton and Edward of North Reading, James and wife Amy of North Reading, Peter and wife Teresa of Glendale, Arizona, Matthew of Stuart, Florida; a brother Dr. Benjamin Gaieski of Philadelphia; six grandchildren Edward III, Lillyanna, Abigayle, Lori, Lisa and Veronica. She was predeceased by her husband Edward, son Sean, and brothers Anthony and Thaddeus.

The unity, love and care that her children showed her, especially her daughter Christine, is a testimony to her dedication to her family.

Private services celebrating her life will be held at a later date.

Please no flowers. Donations can be made to the St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or No Kill Animal Shelters of Salem.
