Boys’ lax team beats Belmont, 16-6

BELMONT — The WMHS boys’ lacrosse team traveled to Belmont yesterday looking for their 5th win in a row. The Warriors controlled the game from start to finish and left town with a 16-6 victory to bring their record to 8-5.

It was their third straight game against Middlesex League Liberty opponents as they previously defeated Arlington and Woburn. Wakefield will now have three games against Freedom Division foes, Wilmington (3-6) on Thursday, Melrose on (12-1) on Tuesday and Stoneham (2-8) on Thursday, May 17.

Wakefield now has 126 goals for and 83 goals against, meaning the Warriors average 9.7 goals scored per game, and allow an average of 6.4 goals per game.

Wilmington has a 6.8 goals for average and a 11.2 goals against average.

Melrose has a 13.5 goals for average and a 4.5 goals against average to lead the Middlesex League.

Stoneham has a 3.5 goals for average and a 13.2 goals against average.

The Warriors will wrap up the regular season on May 21 against St. John’s Shrewsbury (8-3) at Landrigan Field.
