MELROSE — Jay Allan Jackman, 64, passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on May 21, 2018.
Jay was born in Lynn to the late John and Dorothy Jackman. He was raised in Lynn and attended Lynn Schools. He served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Mr. Jackman worked as a welder on jet engines for the General Electric Company in Lynn for many years, before becoming disabled after a motorcycle accident and had to retire in 1996. Jay was a motorcycle enthusiast, enjoyed riding with his friends and was a member of the Massachusetts Motorcycle Association. He was an avid reader, enjoyed country music and amusement parks and loved hanging out at Revere Beach with friends and family.
Jay was the father of Jay A. Jackman Jr. of Salem and Kevin W. Jackman of Manchester, N.H. Grandfather of Joseph Jackman. Brother of Robert Jackman, Helen Robins, Janet Jackman, Gary Jackman and Jack Jackman formerly of Lynn. Former husband of Marjorie Jackman of Melrose. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday, May 25, from 4-7 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
