PEMBROKE — The WMHS boys’ outdoor track and field teams traveled to Pembroke on April 27 for Div. 3 State Relays.

The boys took 9th overall with 22 points and had plenty of top performances.

The 1600 sprint medley team got the gold as their time of 3:38.29 just beat Freedom Division rival Burlington by about one second. The Warriors on the 1600 sprint medley were Tanner Jellison, Tucker Stikeman, Brian Smith and Bradley Diaz.

Wakefield got a third place from the 4xmile team consisting of Casey Brackett, Billy Stevens, Matt Roberto and Rohan Singhvi. The milers took third with a combined time of 19:06.00.

The Warriors brought two strong teams in the Distance Medley Relay. Both ran strong with each other as the A team (Jellison, Diaz, Trevor Zupan, Singhvi) finished 4th in a time of 11:13.24 and the B team (Brackett, Jonathan D’Ambrosio, Stevens, Roberto) took 5th in a time of 11:17.61.

The 4×100 team got 9th in 45.02. The Warriors on that team were Ryan Obear, Stikeman, Wesley Pierre and Smith.

The shot put team also had a strong performance, taking 11th overall. Liam Cosgrove, Logan Cosgrove and Gino Sorrentino threw a combined 108’04.

After the Warriors beat Melrose last week they competed at two more meets over this past weekend at the Freshman-Sophomore state meet and the Twilight Invitational. Full results from those meets will appear later this week.

Wakefield hosts Stoneham tomorrow for their last dual meet of the season.
