Named ‘Mother of the Year’ in 1961 by the Daily Item

WAKEFIELD — Mildred G. Bulfinch, 96, a longtime Wakefield resident, died Thursday, July 18, 2019 in Reading. She was born in Cambridge on October 9, 1922 and was the daughter of the late William and Winona (Harding) Craig. She was retired from the Fraen Corporation of Wakefield. She had been an active member of the First Baptist Church and was also a volunteer at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. In 1961 she was named by the Wakefield Daily Item as “Mother of the Year.”

She was the beloved wife of the late Henry Bulfinch. She was the loving mother of Charles F. Bulfinch, Henry Bulfinch, Patricia Toth, The late Ann (Ingham) St. Clair, Barbara Matteson, Margaret Guillemette and the late Donald Bulfinch. She was the sister of Dorothy Salvaggi. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her funeral service will be held at First Parish Congregational Church 1 Church Street Wakefield on Thursday July 25 at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in North Reading.
