Wednesday August 5, Conant Park
The Marlins came out of the gate on fire posting three runs in the top of the 1st inning.
Robert Pino led off with a rocket line drive single set the tone for this one.
Johnny Recinito, Jack Burnham and Ronan Sanzone showed great plate discipline drawing walks. Brian Fogarty ripped a single to add to the early scoring for the Marlins.
Pino, Recinito and Sanzone all scored. The Marlins would score once more in the 5th with Peyton Oreste touching home plate. Jack Feeney started the game for the Marlins and was consistent for three solid innings. Jack Burnham relieved Feeney in the 4th and finished out the game. Recinito led the defense with help from Liam O’Brien, Gabe Klapman, Oreste and Jayden Jangro who made a running circus catch in left field.
Wes Rosell pitched two strong innings for the Cardinals with Nate Geer throwing some long relief fanning six batters and allowing one hard hit double to Feeney.
The Cardinals responded with good at bats and hits from Geer, Chris Repici, Rosell, Jack Sarazen, Alec Truesdale and Cam Orlandella to plate nine runs after four innings.
Ben Dugan was stellar behind the dish. Brayden Pesce started on the hill but exited early from Pino’s line drive and toughed it out at 1st base. Brady Yee led the “dirty bird” defensive efforts locked in at second base. John Strong and Nolan Clark showed hustle and added defensive plays as well. Chris Repici closed it out striking out the side on 11 pitches in the top of the 6th as the Cardinals moved to 8-0.
Cardinals 7 Dodgers 7
Friday August 7, Lewis Monk Field
The Cardinals and Dodgers battled eight innings of intense little league baseball.
Brady Yee pitched three strong innings for the Cardinals, but his bat kept his team in the game with an RBI triple in the 3rd inning and an “inside the park” two-run homer in the 5th. Chris Repici pulled an RBI double down the left field line and Ben Dugan singled, drove in a run and scored on a passed ball. John Strong ripped a double and Wes Rosell singled.
Dodger starting pitcher, Josh Bird, pitched great for four-plus innings until Ian McKeown tossed two innings setting up Michael Schein to finish the game.
Jameson Cunningham was solid behind the plate for the Dodgers. Reon Anderson, Sam Federico, Chris Beaudet and McKeown flashed the leather playing solid infield D for the boys in blue.
The Cardinals’ Repici relieved Yee in the 4th inning and finished the game allowing two runs and striking out eight. Dodgers, Seth Levine and Derek Falasca, battled at the plate helping move runners. McKeown doubled and singled while Bird helped with two hits. Timely hits from Cole Nault, Schein, Cunningham, Anderson, Beaudet kept the Dodgers alive.
William Beach made his debut for the Red Birds catching three strong innings. Cam Orlandella and Nolan Clark continued to put the ball in play getting a much needed RBI and reaching base at critical moments of the game. Nate Geer walked twice to get runners on the bases for the big bats. The Cardinals infield was stellar with Brayden Pesce at first base, Geer at shortstop and Dugan who played the “hot corner” with ease. Strong made a nice catch and Alec Truesdale, Jack Sarazen and Rosell were solid in the field.
The Cardinals were up 7-5 before the Dodgers tied the game in the bottom of the 6th.
Schein and Repici traded strikeouts until the 8th was finished. A “tie” in the standings was worth the price of admission to all the masked spectators.

Orioles 12, Giants 7
Saturday August 8, Hesseltine Field
The Orioles and Giants met on Saturday, Aug. 7 for a high scoring Minor League game played at the friendly confines of Hesseltine Field. The Saturday morning game was scheduled as a make up to a game postponed earlier in the season due to poor weather.
The early morning start did not have an adverse effect on the Orioles, as Sam Carrol, Ray Willis and Brandon Victoria each got hits for the Birds in the 1st inning to jump out to a 3-1 lead.
In the 2nd inning, the Giants closed the lead to 3-2 after Jed Drogan crushed a ball into the outfield driving in Jared St. Hilaire. The Orioles then erupted for four runs in the 3rd behind Ned Giamanco, Ben O’Donoghue and Antonio Falbo, Parker Sarata, Reid Sterling and Alex Delahajj.
Completely unphased by the Orioles run-scoring fest in the 3rd inning, the Giants came right back with five runs in the 4th to close the lead to 9-7 with hits by Drew Annese, Tyler Walsh and Oden Broberg and contributions from Miles Reddall, Jackson Leonard, Eamon Pearce and Ryan Philbin. The scoring came to an abrupt halt in the 5th inning when Declan Flaherty took the ball for the Orioles to pitch scoreless 5th and 6th innings to close out the game. The crowd was still buzzing after the game and everyone in attendance departed feeling they got their money’s worth.
