WAKEFIELD — The Town Council made a number of appointments this week to committees under their purview.
Members were appointed to a new committee to work with and advise the Permanent Building Committee on the upcoming renovation/expansion of the police side of the Public Safety Building. The appointments were based on a list of police officers recommended by Police Chief Steven Skory.
Appointed to the Public Safety Building Advisory Committee were Chief Skory, Deputy Police Chief Craig Calabrese, Lt. Scott Reboulet, Detective Sgt. Richard Dinanno, Sgt. Sean Beede (Superior Officers Union), Sgt. Kevin McCaul (Records/Evidence), Officer Amy Rando (Family/Social Services) and Officer Shane Pelletier (Patrol Officers Union).
Other appointments were also made by the Town Council this week.
John F. Connors of Winnimissette Avenue was appointed to the Traffic Advisory Committee.
Silvana M. Bouhlal of Sophias Way was named to fill a vacancy on the Conservation Commission.
The Town Council appointed the following individuals to the Veterans Advisory Board:
• Paul Cancelliere of Myrtle Avenue, a U.S. Army Veteran
• Marion Dennehy of Friend Street, a Gold Star Wife
• Brian McCoubrey of Elm Street, a U.S. Army Veteran
• Sean McGrath of Renee Drive, a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran
• Jacquelynne Millinor of Salem Street, a U.S. Air Force veteran
The Town Council approved a one day liquor license for the Hartshorne House’s Virtual Beer Tasting Event on Oct. 17. The fundraiser will be held via Zoom and feature historic tales of taverns and townsfolk of Olde Wakefield (or South Reading) by Historical Society President Nancy Bertrand as well as the history of beer in America and brewmasters’ notes.
