Margaret Glavin, 99

A kind and generous woman; contributed to many charities

MELROSE — Mrs. Margaret M. “Margie” (Allen) Glavin, 99, died Wednesday, December 8 at High Pointe Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.

She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond F. Glavin, Sr. She was born in Donegal, Ireland and the daughter of the late Charles and Bella (Doherty) Allen. She leaves behind her cherished children, the late Patricia “Pat” Dempsey and her late husband, Timmy; Raymond “Skip” Glavin Jr. and his wife, Maddie; Michael Glavin and his wife, Peri; Margaret “Peg” Muse and her companion, Jerry Norton; Joe Glavin; Peter Glavin and his wife, Diane; Chucky Glavin and his companion, Stacey McGuire, and Colleen Burtman and her husband, Chuck, and her former daughter-in-law Maryellen Glavin. She was loved by her 21 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and a future great, great grandchild. Margaret was also the sister of the late John Allen, late Charles Allen, late Mary Clayton, and late Sr. Christine Allen SND and Sr. Kathleen Allen SND. She was also sister- in- law of the late Fr. Joseph Glavin, Paul Glavin and Peggy Murphy. Margaret leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Margaret had a generous and kind heart and was an avid contributor to some of her favorite charities: Special Olympics, St. Jude Hospital, Shriners Hospital, Homeless Shelter for Veterans along with her parish Incarnation Church in Melrose as well as High Pointe Hospice in Haverhill.

Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 2 – 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial was held at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St. Melrose on Monday, December 13, 2021 followed by a burial at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
