MELROSE — What a ROARING time we had Saturday night, October 14! The sequins were sparkling, the feathers flying and the band had us hopping well into the evening. A big THANK YOU to everyone who came out in full 1920’s effect to support the restoration and preservation of Memorial Hall, specifically the GAR Room. For those attendees who would like to download photos from the evening taken by Raj Das of ED Photography and sponsored by Melrose Dentistry, please visit https://www.edphotos.com/Melrose-MA/Friends-of-Memorial-Hall-Gala.
It is undeniable that the building needs our help, as all those who looked up at the crumbling plaster can attest. The funds raised at Saturday’s Gala are just the tip of the iceberg and are kicking off a series of fundraising opportunities and a capital campaign to raise what is necessary to accomplish our restoration goals. For those of you who were unable to attend, there are still ways to contribute well into the future and currently with our Permanent Recognition Program.
Permanent Recognition Program: Individuals and families in Melrose who would like to do more to support the efforts to restore the GAR Room, FOMMH has created a Permanent Recognition Program that extends through early 2024. There are three tiers of support: General Ulysses S. Grant, USA sponsor ($2500-5000); Admiral Forrest P. Sherman, USN sponsor ($5000-$10,000); and The John C.F. Slayton sponsor ($10,000 and above).
Those participating in the program will be permanently recognized on a plaque displayed in
Memorial Hall and their generous donation will go directly towards priority improvements in
the hall. To learn more about the Permanent Recognition Program, email memorialhallgala@gmail.com.
Melrose Memorial Hall has provided so much to our great city. Let’s give back with gratitude to ensure it remains a vital arts and entertainment center for future generations to come.
Thank you, again, for your support!
