NORTH READING — Chris Thomann, a United States Air Force veteran with 20 years of service who has spent his career supporting veterans and their families, was recently hired as the town’s new Director of Veterans’ Services.

He was introduced to the Select Board at their September 3 meeting and is eager to meet with all of the town’s veterans and their families.

Thomann holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and combines his military experience with expertise in behavioral health and community programs to provide compassionate, practical guidance to veterans. He enjoys connecting with people on a personal level, helping them navigate benefits and resources, and creating programs that make a meaningful difference in their lives.

Veterans and their families may contact the Veterans Services Department at Town Hall to learn how to access their Chapter 115 benefits as well as federal programs, and local resources.

Thomann plans to strengthen community partnerships, expand outreach opportunities, and develop programs that respond to the needs of the town’s veterans while fostering a supportive and welcoming environment that honors their service and sacrifice.

He will continue to visit with veterans during the popular weekly Veterans Social Group instituted by former VSO TJ Tedeschi on Thursday mornings at the Senior Center, Third Meeting House on the common, 157 Park St. All veterans are invited to stop by for coffee beginning at 10 a.m.

Veterans and their families who wish to make an appointment to meet with Thomann at his office in Town Hall, 235 North St., may call 978-664-6012.
