Co-op gymnasts move to 5-1 with win over Chelmsford

TYNGSBORO — The North Reading-Andover High co-op gymnastics team defeated host Chelmsford-Tynsgboro-Billerica, 139.25- 112.95, at Absolute Gymnastics in Tyngsboro on Jan. 8.

With that victory, the Warnets improved to 5-1 in the Merrimack Valley Conference.

“It was another great meet,” stated head coach Marlena Bresnick. “All five North Reading girls have had a big impact.”

Alex Lee led the way as the North Reading freshman was first in the all-around with a total score of 36.0.

Lee was first on the bars (8.95) and on the balance beam (9.05). She placed third in the vault (8.75) and on the floor exercise (8.85).

North Reading 9th-grader, Alexis Ciavardone, was first on the floor with a 9.0.

“She has been amazing on the floor all season,” said Bresnick.

Kelsie Berry was second in the all-around with a 34.55. The North Reading freshman was second in the vault (8.85), and on the floor ((8.9). She also tied teammate Olivia Moccia for second on the beam with a 8.6.

On the bars, Berry captured third with a 8.7.

Moccia placed second on the bars with a score of 8.85.

“All of the girls are working hard during practice increasing the difficulty to their routines and striving for personal bests,” said Bresnick.

The Warnets’ next meet will be on Sunday at Reading Gymnastics Academy as they face Methuen at 4 p.m. It will be the team’s Senior Day as senior captain, Izzy Laski will be honored before the meet.

The day before that meet, the team will also be hosting a fundraiser on Jan. 18 from 5-8 p.m. at Reading Gymnastics Academy. It is a “Kids Night Out”  with ages 3-13 recommended. It will include gymnastics, games, crafts, pizza, and lots of fun for the kids.
