Anthony Urkiewicz, 90

A pillar of strength and love for his family and community

WAKEFIELD — The Urkiewicz Family, along with their extended family, announce with deep sorrow the loss of their beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather Anthony E. “Papa” Urkiewicz, 90, a long-term resident of Lynnfield and most recently residing in Wakefield at the Brightview Senior Living. who passed away on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025.

He was born at home on May 13, 1934 to Anthony and Josephine Urkiewicz of Bridgewater. He is survived by his daughter Ann M. Hinds of Andover; his son Mark E. Urkiewicz of Stoneham; and is predeceased by his beloved late wife Ann M. Urkiewicz Lynnfield; and son Eddie A. Urkiewicz Jr. of Beverly. His legacy of love and cherished memories will live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Anthony “Eddie” Urkiewicz was a pillar of strength and love for his family and community. His life was a testament to the values of hard work and dedication where he enjoyed a successful lifelong career in the medical industry. In the 1960s, Eddie founded Cardiovascular Instruments (“CINCO”) of Wakefield, where they manufactured and distributed heart and lung machines and medical instrumentation for both local and international hospitals. Most notably, A. E. Urkiewicz was the inventor of a patented apparatus for treating and oxygenating blood for cardiac surgery.

Eddie will be remembered for his wisdom, generosity and the countless cherished memories he created with those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love from family night dinners and vacations to spontaneous trips to the casinos (if you could keep up with him). His family and the time he spent with them were his greatest joys and his proudest moments in this world. We will forever hold him in our hearts. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.

For those who wish to honor Eddie and pay their respects, a wake will be held on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025 at McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Heart Association at heart.org a cause close to Anthony E. Urkiewicz’ s heart.

Rest in peace, Papa. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
