MELROSE — Beverly (MacPherson) Mahoney, longtime Melrose resident, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 16 at Wakefield Center at the age of 84. Beverly was born on February 25, 1939, in Melrose to the late Earl C. and Margaret A. (Smith) MacPherson. She grew up in Melrose and attended Melrose High School.

Beverly devoted her life to raising her family and was a proud homemaker. She also found solace in her favorite hobbies. She had a talent for knitting, creating beautiful and intricate pieces that showcased her creativity and attention to detail. In her younger years, Beverly loved to dance. She had a deep appreciation for old-time country music, finding comfort in the nostalgic melodies.  

Beverly’s love, kindness and compassion will be missed by all.

Beverly was the beloved wife of the late James Mahoney with whom she shared 32 years of marriage and former wife of George McCarthy. Mother of Stephen McCarthy; John “Jackie” McCarthy of MA; Sharon Corella of MA; Sandra Jay of MA; Robert “Bobby” McCarthy of MA; and Lynn Roberts of FL; step-mother of Michelle Roland and her husband Larry of MA; James F. Mahoney, Jr. and his wife Mary Jo of NH; Greg J. Mahoney of MA; Joanelle K. DeLeire and her husband Donald of MA; and Keith J. Mahoney and his wife Marisa of CA. Loving sister of Judith A. Emery and her husband Bob of MA; Ronald E. MacPherson and his late wife Judith of MA; Allen J. MacPherson and his wife Sheila of MA; Mary Lou Russell and her husband Bud of MA; Dennis P. MacPherson and his wife Paula of FL; Janet I. Melendy and her husband Denis of MA; and the late Robert K. MacPherson.  

Relatives and friends are invited to gather in honor of Beverly’s life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Friday, December 22 from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
