IPSWICH — The Lynnfield High boys’ lacrosse team won its fifth consecutive game on April 10 as they won, 10-8, at Ipswich on a wet, chilly day.
With that victory, the Pioneers improved to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the Cape Ann League. The Tigers, meanwhile, fell to 2-2 overall and in the CAL.
The Tigers led 5-3 after the first quarter but the Pioneers were able to tie the game at 6-6 at the half. Lynnfield took their first lead in the third quarter as they led, 8-6, heading into the final 12 minutes.
“Things looked tricky after the first quarter but then our defense settled in,” said Pioneers head coach Pat Lamusta.
Owen Considine led the way, scoring six times.
“Owen got us back on track on offense,” said Lamusta, about the senior. “He scored our fifth through eighth goals. He is relentless the way he goes to the net and he can score even at tough shooting angles.”
Paul Daley had two goals and one assist.
Kelan Cardinal had one goal and a pair of assists.
Mike Murphy and John Powers each added one assist.
Senior goalie, Ben Pimentel, made 13 saves to improve to 5-1 in net.
“Ben is our leader on defense and he had a great game,” pointed out Lamusta.
Lynnfield hosted Manchester-Essex on Tuesday after press time.
The next game for the Pioneers will be on Thursday as they host Pentucket at 4 p.m.
Lynnfield will then have April Vacation Week off as they don’t return to action until April 28 when they travel to Amesbury at 4 p.m.
