Boys’ track team races past Wilmington, improves to 3-0

READING — The Wakefield High boys’ track and field team had another dominant meet on Tuesday to improve to 3-0 on the season. Wakefield beat Wilmington by a score of 92-44 at Reading High. 

Brody Wyatt led off the meet with another victory in the 400 meter hurdles running a time of 60.72.  Evan Buonopane-Cohen was 2nd in 62.01. Aidan Martin was 3rd in 66.17.   

In the mile, Brandon Nett placed 1st in a time of 4:45.53.   

In the 110 hurdles, Martin placed 1st in a time of 18.15 seconds.   Carter Jefferson was 3rd in 20.24 seconds. 

In the 100 meters, Jackson Conley was 3rd in 11.77 seconds.  

Wyatt followed up his win in the 400 meter hurdles with a 1st place finish and a personal best time of 52.88 in the 400 meters. Henry Brown was 3rd in 56.56.

In the javelin, the Warriors swept the event with Jefferson throwing 131’6, Brown 126’7 and Sean Callanan throwing 125’8.

Frankie Sullivan led the Warrior sweep in the shot put winning with a 47’0.75”. Jefferson was 2nd at 40’2”. Brown was 3rd throwing 34’6.5”.

Sullivan also got the win in the discus, reaching 105’7”. Owen Brudnik was 2nd with 98’10”. Sophomore newcomer Brandon Meahl was 3rd with an 82’8”.   

In the 800, Ethan Mezikofsky led the Warrior sweep with a personal best of 1:58.95. George Palmer was 2nd in 2:11.28. Jacob Ciriello was 3rd in 2:11.86.

Conley took 2nd in 23.66 seconds in the 200 meters.

In the 2 mile, Max Viselli was 1st in 10:30. Marcello Caruso was 3rd in 11.01.  

In the triple jump, JaMauri Belmer had a personal best jump of 44’6.5 for 1st and Michael Mititchev had a personal best jump of 37’6.25 and was third.

Belmer had a jump of 20’8 for 1st place in the long jump.

Wakefield swept the high jump with Belmer (5’8), Wyatt Timas (5’4) and Aidan Jones (5’4).

In the pole vault, Brown had a jump of 11’0, Jimmy Fabbri had a personal best jump of 10’6, Ryan Hogan jumped 10’0, Callanan had a personal best jump of 9’6 and qualified for states. New to the event, Mititchev had a very good jump of 8’6 and also new to the event was Jimmy Preston and he jumped 6’6. Michael Brown had a jump of 6’0.

The Warriors will now prepare for the freshmen/sophomore meet and the twilight meet on Saturday. They will then face Burlington on Tuesday for a battle of the only undefeated teams in the Middlesex League and a chance for the league championship. That meet will take place at Burlington High, 4 p.m.
