Greatest joy was her family
MELROSE — Carol LeDonne, 83, of Melrose passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4 at RegalCare at Glenridge in Medford after her courageous battle with Dementia.
Carol was born on December 22, 1941 and raised in Melrose. Carol was the beloved daughter of her late parents Frank and Helen DeFazio. She attended Melrose High School and went on to dedicate much of her life to serving others through her meaningful work at the Department of Children and Families (DCF).
Carol’s greatest joy came from her family. She treasured time spent with her grandchildren: Marisa, Emily, Nick, Olivia and Joey who were the light of her life. Whether it was holidays filled with love and laughter, visits to her daughter Lisa’s home in NH, seeing musicals at the North Shore Music Theater or simple afternoons out to eat with friends, Carol’s warmth and presence brought joy to those around her. She also had a soft spot for shopping on QVC, always with an eye for something special.
Sadly in addition to her parents, Carol is predeceased by her beloved son Mark LeDonne and his late wife Beverly LeDonne; her son-in-law Tom Perates; and her granddaughter Marisa Perates. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Perates and her grandchildren Nick Perates, Joseph LeDonne, Olivia LeDonne and Emily LeDonne as well as her loving sisters: Barbara Hawkes and the late Robert Hawkes of Melrose; Linda Philpot of Melrose; and Janet Farrell and her husband Dennis Farrell; her former husband Sunny his wife Paula; her daughter Linda and many nieces and nephews. Carol will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her family, friends and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Regal Care for the kindness, patience and support they provided to Carol. Their care brought comfort to both Carol and her loved ones during her journey with Dementia.
