Nearly $72.5M budget passed

MELROSE — After trimming about $400,000 from a request made by Mayor Robert J. Dolan’s administration, the aldermen on June 25 passed a $72,485,827 city budget for the fiscal year that began Wednesday.

Robert LeSaffre, one of the principal owners of the dealership, was a loyal, longtime member of the Melrose Rotary Club. Last week, the skatepark on Tremont Street — funded by the Rotary Club — was dedicated in Mr. LeSaffre’s name.

MELROSE — On Thursday, June 18, a 26-year-old Wakefield man walked behind the pharmacy counter of the Rite Aid on Main Street and unsuccessfully demanded “oxys and benzos” from a pharmacist, police said.
