Over 250 players and league volunteers marched in the National Little League Opening Day Parade on Saturday, April 23 from Melrose's Beebe School to Conant Park baseball field to kick off the Melrose National Little League's 2016 season. Twelve year olds Matt Tarpey, Jesse DeLaurier, Dylan Driscoll, Matt Schwarze (from left) marched the parade route carrying the banner. The rain held off allowing a good time had by all.

The Melrose Red Raider boys' lacrosse team continues their winning ways. Melrose went 2-3 this week, with wins over Norwood (17-5) and Wilmington (15-3), outscoring opponents 32-8. Melrose is 8-2 on the season and will travel to Burlington (3-3) on Friday for a key league game. A real test comes on Tuesday when they travel to Reading to take on the undefeated 7-0 Rockets.
