BIG STARS ON THE BIG DIAMOND. North Reading’s Eastern Massachusetts Independent Baseball League (EMIBL) team, comprised of the town’s top seventh and eighth grade players, is having another strong spring as it continues in its role as a pipeline to the NRHS program. Players are improving their fundamentals while gaining an understanding of the strategy that comes with Big Diamond baseball, and a recent winning streak has pushed the Hornets into second place in the EMIBL’s American Division. Their success indicates a bright future for the high school team; nearly every starter on this year’s North Reading varsity came through the town's EMIBL program. Pictured are (top row, left to right): Head Coach Marco Vittozzi, Ryan Caviasca, Charlie O’Brien, Peter Wyatt, Nicholas Shea, Rob Tammaro, Michael Vittozzi, Brady Cunningham, Cooper Mann, Nick Rinaldi, Theodore Suny, Jack Fischer, Connor Macintyre; (bottom row): Manager Jim Demetri, Dylan Griffin, Jared Macdonald, Zach Sampson, Tim McCarthy, Frank Cassarino, Joseph Giacalone, Joe Caviasca, Tyler Craig, Nico Centofanti, Nick Ciardiello, Pitching Coach Kevin Macintyre; (Missing from the photo: Assistant Coach Aldo Vittozzi and players Anthony Juliano and Preston Lydotes).
