THE ST. Joseph School fifth and sixth grade boys' basketball team competed in the Middlesex Catholic Elementary Schools Basketball League and enjoyed a successful season. The team was coached by Stephen Curran, Jeff Campbell and Patrick Foy. Kneeling are players Tony Novack and Andrew Sablone. The players sitting are Daniel Maynard, Gianni Mercurio, William Pacy and Sean Campbell. THE St. Joseph School “Hawks” basketball players enjoyed a terrific season playing in the Middlesex Catholic Elementary Schools League. Forty-nine students in grades five though eight participated in the school’s basketball program this year. The mission of the St. Joseph School basketball program is to foster character development through the participation in team athletic competition. The primary focus of this program is to teach all participants the basic skills of basketball, as well as teamwork with an emphasis on sportsmanship and the promotion of Christian values.

26 athletes from Wakefield entered for 119th running

BOSTON — The town of Wakefield will be well-represented in the 119th running of the Boston Marathon on Monday, April 20.

Twenty-six runners are officially entered from Wakefield. They all received BIB numbers.

There are a total 14 female entrants and 12 male entrants in the race…

LEXINGTON — The Wakefield Memorial High girls’ lacrosse team is still searching for its first Middlesex League victory, although it wasn’t for a lack of effort.

The Warriors gave Lexington all it could handle on Wednesday afternoon at Lincoln Park, but suffered a 14-11 defeat to the Minutewomen.
