Fends off strong Burlington challenge to capture fourth straight M.L. Freedom title outright

THE WMHS girls’ cross country team captured its fourth consecutive Middlesex League Freedom division championship with a 25-30 victory over Burlington yesterday afternoon at Burlington High School. Wakefield finished with a 5-0 record in the division. Members of the team include Abigail Harrington, Maeve Conway, Reilly McNamara, Sara Custodio, Emily Hammond, Lauren Sallade, Joanna Hammond, Catherine Urbano, Jordan Stackhouse, Hailey Bishop, Gillian Russell, Emmalee Connors, Marissa Pesce, Victoria Popp, Sarah Filleul, Sam Ross and Cubra Umit. The head coach is Karen Barrett.

THE WMHS golf team finished sixth at the Div. 2 North sectional qualifier yesterday at the Far Corner Golf Course. The Warriors had a score of 338.
