MELROSE — The City of Melrose is sharing the following updates for the upcoming week:
Early Voting Begins Oct. 25
Early voting for the Nov. 4 Local Election begins on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Melrose City Hall, 562 Main St. In-person early voting is available to all registered Melrose voters on the following dates and times: Saturday, Oct. 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Monday, Oct. 27 through Thursday, Oct. 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Friday, Oct. 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information about the upcoming election, email elections@cityofmelrose.org, call the Elections Office at 781-979-4125 or visit www.cityofmelrose.org/elections.
Free Flu vaccinations on Oct. 28
Melrose’s Health and Human Services Department is offering free flu shots at the upcoming Melrose Senior Resource Fair at Memorial Hall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28. Vaccinations are available to individuals aged 5 and over. High-dose vaccine will be available to individuals 65 years and older while supplies last. Individuals under 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are preferred; visit the calendar section at www.cityofmelrose.org to make an appointment.
Fire and Police utilizing vacant Beebe School for training
The Melrose Fire and Police Departments are conducting training exercises with colleagues from other communities at the former Beebe School building at 263 W. Foster St. Residents and passersby should not be alarmed by smoke, an unusual number of emergency vehicles, or other public safety activity at the site during daytime hours. If you have any non-emergency concerns about this training, please call the Fire Department at (781) 979-4404 (during regular business hours) or the Police Department at 781-979-4401 (particularly during evenings or weekends).
Fall Street Sweeping begins Nov. 3
The Melrose Department of Public Works has released the schedule for its Fall Street Sweeping Program, which begins Monday, November 3 with the sweeping of the City’s main roads. Review the sweeping schedule at www.cityofmelrose.org/sweeping and make sure your car is not parked on the street on your neighborhood’s scheduled days.
City Yard schedule
The Melrose City Yard is open for recycling and yard waste drop-off every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. The Yard will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 1.
