Bright of Melrose earns Academic All-District honors for Bentley baseball

WALTHAM — Four members of the Bentley University baseball team earned Division II Academic All-District recognition from College Sports Communicators, the CSC recently announced. The baseball program adds academic accolades to a historic 2024 season that resulted in a school record 29 wins.

Cory Bright (Melrose/Bishop Fenwick HS), and sophomore pitchers Steve Hardiman (North Massapequa, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial HS), Pat Heber (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City HS) and Ryan Glupe (Huntington, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial HS) made the cut for Bentley. In order to qualify, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA and be a regular contributor in their respective team’s competitions.

Bright now qualifies as a finalist for CSC Academic All-American. Bright’s .374 batting average in 2024 led the Falcons. He was the only Northeast-10 player this spring with an on-base percentage over .500 (.515). The graduate student infielder/ designated hitter was named to the All-NE10 First Team this year. Bright pursued his MBA with a concentration in business analytics in 2023-24.
