FORT DEVENS — The cross-country teams competed in the Division 3 All-State Meet on Saturday, Nov. 20 in Fort Devens.
“It was another successful day for Lynnfield cross-country in the biggest cross country meet in the state of Massachusetts,” said Pioneers head coach Bill Wallace. “Not many schools had both teams participate in this meet. It was the second year in a row where Lynnfield had both teams at the state championship.”
The girls’ cross-country team secured a 10th place finish in the Division 3 All-State Meet.
Senior captain Maddie Daigle shined in her final high school cross-country race after finishing 29th in the meet (21:09). Sophomore Gabby Bottaro placed 74th overall (22:09). Junior Viola Wertz finished 77th in the meet (22:12).
Junior Katie Cash placed 79th overall (22:13). Sophomore Kaila George finished 119th in the meet (23:14). Freshman Shea Moore placed 139th overall (24:00). Senior captain Courtney Cumming finished 161st in the meet (25:26).
“The girls’ ended up finishing 10th overall in a very competitive field of runners,” said Wallace.
The boys’ team finished 20th in the Division 3 All-State Meet.
Senior captain Angelo DeLuca placed 81st overall (18:24). Sophomore Shea McCarthy finished 108th in the meet (18:56). Senior captain John McKrell placed 112th overall (19:03).
Junior Ryan Nguyen finished 124th in the meet (19:28). Senior captain Charles Beatrice placed 141st overall (19:50). Sophomore Ashkrit Mahajan finished 155th in the meet (20:45). Freshman Dylan Nguyen placed 164th overall (21:05).
“It was a great effort by all of the runners,” said Wallace.
