DANVERS — Danvers-Lynnfield High co-op gymnastics coach Jen Habeeb gave out four awards at the team’s end-of-season banquet at the Magia restaurant in Danvers which was held back on March 12.
Kaylee Wescott received the MVP Award while the Unsung Hero Award went to Lynnfield’s Camryn Donovan.
The Most Improved Gymnast Award was given to Hannah Moccia and the Coaches Award went to Delaney Murphy.
This was another outstanding season for the team as the Falcons went 6-1 overall. They came in second place in the CAL-NEC behind Masconomet, who ended up winning the state title.
In the state finals, Danvers-Lynnfield came in fourth place behind Masco, Newton South and Mansfield.
Last year, the Falcons finished third in the state.
“We had a great season with a lot of accomplishments,” stated Habeeb, who just completed her 10th-year at the helm. “It’s always exciting when you make the postseason tournament. The state finals is the girls’ favorite competition and we are happy to have qualified again this year.”
Habeeb also pointed out the individual success several members had.
“Kaylee winning the all-around state title and Maddie (Wescott) and Camryn being selected for the Senior National team to highlight a few. Overall, we are proud of our 2024-2025 season and look forward to the next season.”
The team will lose Maddie Wescott and Donovan to graduation as Habeeb will miss both of the senior captains and what they brought to the table.
Donovan was a CAL-NEC All-Star this winter on the balance beam.
The good news for next year is that nine veterans are slated to return led by Kaylee Wescott who was the league MVP this season as she will be a junior.
Donovan’s sister, Callie, a sophomore from LHS, will also be a junior next winter as she was an All-Star on the floor exercise.
Another all-star coming back is Lynnfield’s Sophia Catinazzo who was an All-Star on the vault. She will also be a junior next year.
Sophomore Anna Gorman was the other Falcon from Lynnfield as four members were from town.
