BOSTON — State Senator Jason Lewis and State Representatives Kate Lipper-Garabedian and Donald Wong announce that the Wakefield Police Department received a $39,536 Municipal Road Safety grant administered by the state’s Executive Office of Grants and Research with funding awarded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
This grant will be used to help improve safety on local roadways through traffic safety initiatives such as crosswalk and hands-free driving enforcement.
“Pedestrian and road safety is one of the top concerns I hear from my constituents,” said Lewis. “I’m grateful to the Wakefield Police Department for proactively working to identify areas of concern and working diligently to keep pedestrians, cyclists and drivers safe in Wakefield.”
“Road safety continues to be a top priority for residents of Wakefield,” said Lipper-Garabedian. “I looked forward to the Wakefield Police Department being able to use this grant funding to continue to keep pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers safe.”
