WAKEFIELD — On Wednesday, July 23, the Trustees of the Dr. Thomas P. and Edwina H. Devlin Medical Scholarship Fund awarded their 2025-2026 scholarships to two nursing students, one physician assistant student and two medical students at a banquet ceremony held at the Mandarin Restaurant in Reading.
Mitchell Kennedy of Wakefield, son of Sean and Karen Kennedy is entering his final year of UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester. Mitchell’s passion for medicine sprouted from his desire to serve; he is a Second Lieutenant in the US Army and serves in the Massachusetts Army National Guard while attending medical school. This past year, Mitchell initiated a research study examining the time it takes for a new orthopedic surgeon to become an expert in their field. This is Mitchell’s fourth Devlin Scholarship.
Kate Bidgood is from Melrose and is entering her second year at the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine in Burlington, VT. Kate volunteers at a student-run clinic that provides clothing, toiletries, food and personal care to the unhoused population in Burlington, VT. Over the past year, she has developed an interest in neurology and is excited to explore this as a potential career path. In her free time, she enjoys art, particularly painting with watercolors. This is Kate’s second Devlin Scholarship.
Amanda Tran is from Wilmington. She is entering her second year in the physician’s assistant program at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston. She holds an undergraduate degree in biology with a minor in public health from the same institution. Inspired by her pediatrician, Amanda hopes to pursue a career in primary care after graduation. When she is not working or studying, she enjoys reading. This is Amanda’s first Devlin Scholarship.
Emily Pudvah is from Wakefield. She is entering her second year in the Doctor of Nursing Practice/Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program at Boston College. She holds an undergraduate degree in nursing from the same institution. Emily works as a research assistant at Boston College. She is an avid Boston College Eagle fan. She is a lifelong dancer and an avid reader. This is Emily’s first Devlin Scholarship.
Meghan Radzik is from Melrose. She is entering her third year in the nursing program at Clemson University in Clemson, SC. At Clemson, Meghan serves as a mentor for Clemson Life. This program offers independent living skills and collegiate experience to students with disabilities. She is also a volunteer at the campus food pantry and a member of the sailing club. At home, she enjoys the Cape, the beach and her family’s sailboat. This is the first Devlin Scholarship for Meghan.
The Trustees congratulate all the winners and wish them much success for the upcoming academic year.
In the 65 years since its founding, the trustees have awarded 388 scholarships to 201 students attending 71 different schools in 18 states and Canada. Grant aid is derived solely from the interest in investments and the generous contributions of members of the community. Contributions are gratefully accepted and may be made in the form of a general donation, a memorial gift, or in honor of any special event. We are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Qualified candidates must be accepted at an accredited medical or nursing school seeking an M.D., D.O., P.A., N.P. or R.N. degree. Applications are not accepted from students in pre-med or other health-related fields or undergraduate programs.
