MELROSE — The Melrose High School Learning Commons will be renamed in honor of a former superintendent of schools on Sunday, Dec. 18.
Dr. David P. Driscoll served as Melrose’s superintendent of schools from 1984 to 1993. The former secondary schools math teacher was the district’s assistant superintendent from 1972-1984. He served as the 22nd commissioner of education for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from March 1999 to August 2007.
The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18. The community is invited to attend.
