
NORTH READING — The Div. 3 state champion North Reading High baseball team had plenty of individual postseason accolades to go along with their team trophy.
Four Hornets were named to the CAL All-Star team: Gavin Brady, Matt Mancinelli, Christian Lava and Ethan Quan. All four were juniors this season.

Mancinelli and Brady were named to the All-League team.
Mancinelli also earned the CAL Player of the Year Award. Additionally, he was named to both the Boston Herald and Boston Globe All-Scholastic teams. The catcher led NR in batting average (.420), RBI (26) and doubles (8). He had 29 hits and 9 walks.

Brady broke the all-time NRHS stolen-base record with 37. He was only caught stealing once. The center fielder also led the team in on-base percentage at .529 while hitting for an average of .403 and adding 14 walks, 10 RBI, 27 hits and 25 runs scored.

Lava had a team-high 33 hits including two triples. The left fielder had 14 stolen bases, 22 RBI, 24 runs and a .402 average.

Quan had a great season on the mound, leading the team in innings pitched (57), ERA (1.71) and strikeouts (43) while racking up a record of 8-2. Opponents only hit .240 against the righty.
North Reading head coach Eric Archambault was also recognized as the Boston Globe’s Div. 3 Coach of the Year. In his 11th season at the helm of the Hornets, coach “Arch” led the team to an overall record of 21-4, guiding NR to their first state title since 2012.
